> They were working hard last week on the framing at the main roof. Monday got rained out but it was hot and beautiful for the rest of the week. We heard that OSHA paid a visit to the framers mid-week. Must have been a call from a nice neighbor as it is very rare that OSHA bothers residential contractors. Luckily they only got a warning for fall protection this time.

> I'm hoping that they start building some stairs soon. I have not been to the second floor since the sheathing went on and will not get to see any attic/roof until there is a method other than extension ladders to get elevated. For now I just trust that Matt is continuing with his fantastic inspections upstairs because he is getting no help from me.

> We are quickly learning that our favorite room in the house right now is the future room above the carport. It is just a really neat space. I included a photo from inside looking at the dormer. This space may be built out sooner than originally anticipated!

> Over the last few weeks we've started spending our Friday nights at the house for happy hour with our friends. Everyone is excited about the house and enjoys coming over to check out the week's progress over a cold beverage. It 's a lot of fun and hopefully is setting the atmosphere for many more social gatherings once we are moved in.

Carport Dormer

I haven't been to the house yet this week but looks like they are making great progress on the carport based on these photos that Matt sent me. The dormer was installed today (on the east elevation) above the carport. It will be a really nice space whenever we opt to build it out. The solid wall that you see in one of the photos is the side of the carport on the north elevation along Pinehurst Dr. Pinehurst acts as the backside of all of the houses on the block and will be where our driveway comes in off the street.

Second Floor Framing

Sent from my iPhoneFraming at the second floor started last Friday. This is the view of the east elevation, or what we call the "formal" front from Smith Street. The window you see on the second floor is our bedroom. The brick piers will be the edge of the porch. Smith Street is heavy with foot traffic, particularly with the college students heading to class. We are looking forward to nights hanging out on the porch watching the passerbys.

The carport framing has been the focus over the last two days. It has a really high ceiling and feels so big!
